Bathroom stool

I found this old sea-grass stool on the side of the road a while back. The weaving was damaged and covered in paint blobs. But I thought it would make a great project to learn from.

Unfortunately I needed the stool sooner than I could learn to weave it. So out came my jute webbing. My daughter & I had a fun time stretching the jute it over using our new air stapler and stretcher bar....

I think it looks great! I'm actually tempted to stencil something on the top, I'm just not sure what yet.

It was originally dyed black, and over the years it has formed a great patina. The wear marks on the bottom stretcher rails are great.

One day I'll learn to weave it properly, but for now its going to earn its keep in my bathroom.
