White Day Bed

After nearly two weeks cramming in commission jobs, I managed to tidy up one of my own pieces today for sale on TradeMe. This vintage daybed is selling at LOW RESERVE and $1 start.....and if you know anything about TM you'll know that $1 starts means the RESERVE IS $100 OR LESS. Which this one is. 

I've personally owned this for several years now and was commonly used as a spare bed when the need arose. But if you can imagine this next to a full length window, with a book, soft music and a cool glass of orange juice then your on track! Bliss...

French Inspired Art Deco Settee

When I brought this French Toile style fabric I knew instantly it would look fab on a small settee.

And I was right!

I only recently obtained this little couch (by recently I mean less than a couple of days ago lol) and the second I got my hot little hands on it I knew it'd be a winner. I love the curved back rest, and the scalloped front rail....

The black piping has given it a lovely tailored look - sleek and sexy don't you think? The woodwork stained slightly darker than original, but keeping all the existing patina....all the character marks, dents and dings. This old beauty wears its age well!

Lime and Black Sofa Bed

My name is Antonia and I have an addiction.

REUPHOLSTERING THESE SOFA BEDS!!!

I admit it, I love love love doing these couches. When I've done one I can't wait until I can do another! They are called Night-and-Day Sofa Beds and are mostly made by Airrest. This is, erm, the 7th one I've done I think. Love them!!!

This one started off in a safe, almost boring butter yellow colour. Now its in a smoking hot, super sexy lime and black. Too awesome.

Yay yay yay-de-yay yay!

Don't ask me why I love doing these so much coz I couldn't tell you. They are hard and heavy... and I'm only 4'11" tall so definitely a handful. But stop I can't.... :)))

Retro Modular Suite

I brought this suite for pittance and its been sitting in my storage unit ever since. I thought is was from the 1990s at first glance... it had an awful loose cover pulled over it. But once I stripped it off I realized it was very retro. And very cool!

I had a roll of this yummy turquoise indian cotton that I KNEW would be perfect. I have upholstered a retro couch in this before and it looked smashing.

And I have to brag. This was the first thing I did with my new sewing machine. Wow, what a difference it made too. YES!

What does my own sofa look like?

Some of you might know that I've refurbished several Airrest Sofa-Beds. I love them! I love their size, their shape, their practicality and their never-ending styles.

So it goes without saying that I'd own one myself!

Of course!

These sofas open out into a double bed with the flick of a wrist, and although they are not super comfortable they're great as a spare bed when unexpected guests arrive.

I have also upholstered two chairs in this fabric. These chairs were originally for sale, however a little "accident" happened and they got a few marks across the fabric (thanks puss).  So I kept them. And I'm really happy about it now, although I was furious at the time.

Sleek and Stylish Retro Sofa Bed

I upholstered this drop-dead gorgeous sofa bed for a friend of mine, and BOY did it come up a treat! I'm really really REALLY pleased with the result and as always had lots of fun doing it.

Me and my hubby delivered it to their new home yesterday... and by new home they were actually moving into it as we spoke. The house an is equally gorgeous period home with kauri floors and high ceilings. The sofa look very at home there!

I have asked for an in-situ photo which I'll post here when I get it. However I'm off on an overseas trip to China today (OMG) so I'll add it when I get back in a couple of weeks.

New addition

I have a friend who also enjoys upholstery work. She brought this retro couch last week only to find she couldn't store it anywhere. They are bigger and heavier than they look!  She knows I love those Night-and-Day sofas so has offered it to me. YES! I can't say no to these beauties.

Tomato Red Retro Sofa Bed

I think I'm in love with these sofa beds...I can't get enough of them!

This one has seen better days, although I bet that gorgeous turquoise would have been impressive in the 1960s! I brought this sofa for mere cents and WOW does it shine like a new penny. 

Funky Retro Day Bed

Totally funky retro daybed / sofa from the 1960s. Its been recovered in gorgeous white fabric that is the same as my last retro couch and armchair. 
Another piece I just LOVED upholstering... and LOVE the finished result.

Retro Air Rest Sofa & Armchair

I have to admit to LOVING this refurb project! LOVED IT.

I had so much fun and I'm in love with the end result. Again, I want to keep it.... but we have.... 

1. A tiny house, and

2. Extensions happening shortly so we have no room to store them. 

Rolls eyes...

AirRest Retro Sofa Bed

This is a 1960s Night-and-Day sofa bed by AirRest. It folds out into a great bed at the flick of the wrist.  Upright it is a four seater, flattened out it makes a cosy double bed (or king-single). It was amazingly comfortable for a 50year old couch!
